Wildlife Inspires Creative Learning Games

 

Every quiz, crossword, or scavenger hunt in Port Moresby Nature Park is carefully designed to highlight Papua New Guinea’s unique plants and animals. Senior staff member Esther Hulum disclosed that the activities are specifically tied in with exhibits in the park.

 For example, scavenger hunt questions or quiz clues are fact-based about the animals’ habitats, diets, and conservation statuses to get one more observant in examining exhibits and learn from what’s right in front of them,” she added.

 Some of the most popular quiz questions include: “Which bird in Port Moresby Nature Park is renowned for building intricate nests to entice a mate?” — Whose answer is the Bowerbird? Another favorite with crosswords enthusiasts is: “This flightless bird is native to PNG and has a helmet-shaped crest on its head (9 letters).” The answer, of course, is the Cassowary.
